Project description
I was brought in to redesign the challenge participation experience on a trading platform where users struggled to find, compare, and join competitions efficiently.
Timeline
The project ran for approximately six weeks, from research and heatmap analysis through Figma prototyping and handoff for development.
Background
User feedback showed that upcoming competitions were buried in dense layouts. Traders needed faster access to key stats, clearer CTAs, and a responsive interface that worked equally well on mobile.
Process
Research & Planning
I analyzed heatmaps and session recordings to identify where users dropped off when browsing competitions. The data revealed that critical information was below the fold and visually competing with secondary actions.
Design & Prototyping
Using Figma and an existing UI kit, I reorganized competition cards, emphasized upcoming events, and created responsive layouts for mobile and desktop breakpoints.
Testing & Optimization
Iterative testing with stakeholders validated clearer hierarchy, improved stat visibility, and a streamlined join flow.
Development & Implementation
Final designs were prepared for development handoff. Implementation timelines shifted due to platform constraints, but the UX direction remained consistent.
Solution
The redesign focused on making competition participation feel immediate and trustworthy.
Organize Information Effectively
Competition cards were restructured so dates, prizes, and requirements scan in seconds instead of requiring full-page reading.
Highlight Competitiveness and Results
Key stats and performance indicators were elevated to reduce cognitive load when comparing multiple challenges.
Responsive Interface Design
Mobile layouts received dedicated attention so traders could review and join competitions on the go without losing context.
Solution
Solution screens
Competition list, detail, join flow, and results — structured so traders can scan and act on mobile.
Results
Increased Efficiency
Users reached relevant competitions faster with fewer clicks and less scrolling.
Positive User Feedback
Stakeholders and test users reported clearer hierarchy and improved readability across devices.
Increasing Competition Participation
The join flow became more prominent, supporting higher engagement with upcoming challenges.
